Distance Learning: Classrooms Can Collaborate
Desert Sky Middle School Teacher Christina Nickerson in Tucson, Ariz., (Vail School District) teaches an extracurricular leadership program for grades 6-8 at both her school and Esmond Station K-8 (Tucson). Then she discovered she could cut down on her time and travel by teaching both classes at once using a distance learning setup that included the Engage Pointmaker system and a video teleconferencing (VTC) bridge provided by Videxio.
Now she can send questions to both classrooms via their iPads as well as display them them on large HD displays set up in each classroom (see diagram below). Students can draw or write on their assignment and Christina can select students to share their answers with everyone, and true discussion and collaboration between classes begins!
